New for 2014 – Classic albums at Radio Baxter

Sally Baxter, Girl Reporter requests the pleasure of your company at the launch of a new radio show in the old fashioned style. Playalonga while I tweetalonga to some of my favourite albums.

The first session is set for 8pm Brisbane time (10am GMT) on Saturday 25 January. If you’re not out celebrating Burns Night with Haggis and Whisky and Wild, Wild Women why not stay in with me and enjoy some classic sounds along with some fun facts and musical musings. BYO Music. It’ll be fun.

I’ll be pouring myself a glass of wine and settling down with one of the greatest albums of all time, Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks.

I can’t remember when I first heard it, but Astral Weeks became my go-to choice in the early Noughties when, as a single mum, I confronted the unsettling situation of having the place to myself when the kids went to sleepovers.

I learned to enjoy solitude to this album and that seems as good a reason as any to choose it for the inaugural Radio Baxter.

I’ll tweet along with the album in realtime from @BaxterRadio at #RadioBaxter and simultaneously post on my Facebook page.

If you prefer to ignore my twitterings and just enjoy the music, nothing could make me happier. Astral Weeks is well worth your undivided attention. I want to introduce newbies to a great album and remind oldies of a classic you might not have listened to for a while.

If you miss the session, don’t worry – I’ll post it all up on the blog the following day and include your best comments.

So if you’ll be home alone on Saturday 25 January why not kick back with me from 8pm Brisbane/10am GMT/6pm Hong Kong/you’ll have to work out the rest for yourselves –  AKA Wine O’Clock Brisbane Time. BYO Music.

And if this works out, we’ll certainly do it again.

Looking forward to your company. It’ll be fun.

Go Sally, always been one of my favourites – look forward to the broadcast.

“And I will stroll the merry way and jump the hedges first and I will drink the cool clear water to quench my thirst…”

  2. Facebook page? Radio Baxter? Girl, you are stormin’ into 2014. Not sure I can keep up with your pace. It took me six months to get around to sorting out my WP password which — because it was so complicated — I could either never remember or type in correctly. My New Year’s resolution is to sort out all my passwords. There has to be a better way. Wishing you a blast on the 25th.
